Drawings

My artistic path began when my father and I relocated from Sao Tome to Portugal. I didn't have any friends back then, and I was the kid that was always picked on at school. Due to all of the conditions, I started having depression and not having the support of my family, and feeling like I was being exploited in many situations by then, I began focusing my attention on drawing, sketching.

I drew over many hours and a year. Going against what my family stated about my work, I began throwing all of my efforts into it in order to prove them wrong! I was nearing the end of my motivation when I was introduced to portraiture. I saw my teacher creating this amazing piece of art and was impressed by it. I observed how and the process he was using and tried to imitate at home. I managed to draw a nice portrait that my family validated for a period of time until they returned to their initial state of telling me how useless art is to life.

I was unhappy because, therefore, I drew individuals that were significant to them. They were pleased and amazed!

They requested me to sketch them, but I refused since they hurt me.

Apart from the majority of my family, I practised for years and received a lot of validation from a lot of individuals. I reached a point when I had lost all motivation due to the loss of individuals I cared about: my father relocated to the United Kingdom with my sister... my great grandfather's diet... and the love of my life moved to a distant location. I became unhappy and having suicidal thought.

After three years of not creating art, I began to research and study psychology in order to better understand the human mind and to understand depression, among other things.

When I migrated to the UK, I rediscovered my love of drawing. I was surrounded by individuals who began to validate my work, like the teachers, the entire school. So many people validated my portrait that I was given the opportunity to show at one of the most renowned buildings in Ipswich. People started to pay for my artwork.

My company's concept is to provide art that stimulates people's emotions, art that they can carry in their pockets, to wall murals. The idea is to produce art that will compel people to connect with each of my pieces as well as desire to hang that piece of art loaded with emotion in their homes or workplaces.

I draw to amaze and to inspire people, particularly young artists, to keep doing what they love and to provide a good example for them.

Like my quote says “keep on shining like you do.
